Patients visiting the Emergency Department at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Braselton will now have access to a significantly larger facility designed to serve the area's rapidly growing population.

The newly expanded Emergency Department officially opened this week as part of the hospital's ongoing campus expansion. The project more than triples the department's square footage and doubles the number of treatment rooms, allowing the hospital to care for more patients while helping reduce wait times during busy periods.

When NGMC Braselton opened in 2015, its Emergency Department was designed to care for about 25,000 patient visits each year. Today, the hospital sees more than twice that number as Braselton and the surrounding communities continue to experience rapid growth.

In addition to more treatment rooms, the new space includes updated patient care areas, modern equipment and improved workflows for doctors, nurses and emergency staff. The expansion is intended to help patients receive care more efficiently while preparing the hospital for continued population growth across Northeast Georgia.

The Emergency Department expansion is one phase of a larger investment at NGMC Braselton that also includes additional inpatient beds, expanded support services, more parking and a new helipad to improve access for critically ill and injured patients.

For residents of Braselton and the surrounding area, the expanded Emergency Department represents another step toward ensuring high-quality emergency care remains available close to home as the community continues to grow.
