NGMC Braselton Expands to Meet Community Needs with New Floors and 48 Additional Beds |
Hospital's Growth Reflects Commitment to Enhanced Patient Care |
Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Braselton has recently completed the first phase of a significant expansion, adding two new floors to its main tower.
This development introduces 48 additional beds, enhancing the hospital's capacity to serve the rapidly growing community.
The new floors now house the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), both relocated to these state-of-the-art spaces.
The first patient was successfully transferred to the new ICU on the morning of Monday, August 25.
Subsequently, the areas previously occupied by the ICU and IMCU are undergoing renovations to become regular inpatient rooms, further increasing the hospital's overall bed count.
"The Braselton community is vibrant and growing, and we're thankful our hospital is growing to meet the need," said Kevin Matson, vice president of regional hospitals at Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS).
"It's an honor to serve this community by offering compassionate, quality healthcare, and this expansion is just one of the many ways NGHS is growing the greater good."
This expansion is part of a broader, two-phase project aimed at addressing the increasing healthcare demands of the region.
The final phase, slated for completion in 2026, includes:
Emergency Department Expansion: Doubling the number of treatment rooms from 23 to 46 to enhance patient care efficiency.
Additional Parking: Adding over 200 new parking spaces for patients and visitors.
New Helipad: Establishing a helipad to provide faster access to life-saving stroke, emergency, and cardiac care.
"Expanding our hospital is about more than building new floors," stated Angela Gary, chief nursing officer for NGMC Braselton and Barrow.
"It's about creating an environment where our teams can deliver the highest level of care and patients can receive the treatment and rest they need."
Since its opening in 2015, NGMC Braselton has been a cornerstone of healthcare in the region.
Over the past decade, the hospital has experienced substantial growth, reflecting the dynamic expansion of the Braselton area.
In April 2025, NGMC Braselton celebrated its 10-year anniversary, marking a decade of dedicated service to the community.
During this period, the hospital has seen more than 10,000 deliveries, almost 500,000 emergency department visits, and over 60,000 surgeries.
These milestones underscore the hospital's commitment to meeting the evolving healthcare needs of the region.
The ongoing expansion projects are a testament to NGMC Braselton's dedication to providing comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services.
By increasing capacity and enhancing facilities, the hospital aims to ensure that residents of Braselton and surrounding areas have access to the care they need, close to home.
