There's some good news for Jackson County families!

Nine schools in the Jackson County School System have earned recognition in U.S. News & World Report's latest rankings of the Best Elementary and Middle Schools.

The school system announced the recognition October 27, highlighting the academic performance of its elementary and middle schools across the district.

A Strong Showing Across the District

According to the school system, every eligible elementary school earned a place in the rankings, along with all three of the district's middle schools.

Heroes Elementary School, the district's newest elementary school, was not eligible for consideration because it has not been open long enough.

The rankings take several academic measures into account, including student proficiency and performance in math and reading on state-administered assessments.

Which Schools Were Recognized?

The schools recognized include:

East Jackson Elementary School

East Jackson Middle School

Gum Springs Elementary School

Legacy Knoll Middle School

Maysville Elementary School

North Jackson Elementary School

South Jackson Elementary School

West Jackson Elementary School

West Jackson Middle School

Good News for Local Families

For families in Braselton, Hoschton and surrounding Jackson County communities, the recognition includes several familiar schools, particularly Gum Springs Elementary, West Jackson Elementary, West Jackson Middle and Legacy Knoll Middle.

The announcement is another positive moment for the Jackson County School System, which has reported improvements in student academic performance in recent years.

It's also an opportunity to recognize the teachers, school staff, students and families whose daily efforts contribute to their schools' success.

Congratulations to the Jackson County schools receiving this recognition!
